Automated Flower Harvester Design and Implementation using Image Processing

Developing and designing an autonomous system capable of harvesting flowers is the primary goal of this work. When the apparatus described in this article is used, the flowers will be removed from the plant in excellent condition, saving time compared to harvesting them by hand. Flower harvesting automation has been limited to huge blooms like tulips in recent days. As a result, there will be a need for smaller flowers like the rose to be harvested. There is a solution to this issue and it is less expensive than harvesting manually. The watershed algorithm is utilized to identify the blooms in this technique. The recognized flower is compared to other flowers in the database using the histogram distance computation. It will be possible to determine the centroid of a flower and how far away from the centroid to cut its stem if the detected flower matches 70-80% of the expected one. A microprocessor sends a signal to the robotic arm, which then cuts the matching blossom. For agricultural reasons, this initiative seeks to build a harvesting method that is both efficient and affordable.
